Ambulance visit teaches children about a day in the life of a paramedic

Pupils with paramedic

The sound of sirens made sure the boys and girls in reception class were wide awake when paramedic Keith Hennebelle visited Stockport Grammar Junior School to show the children around his ambulance on Friday morning.

Mr Hennebelle, father of pupil Fin, came to school as a special favour to tell the class all about his job. After explaining what happens once you ring 999, a guided tour of his ambulance and the equipment inside showed the children how he helps those in need.

Once the boys and girls had enjoyed a hands-on demonstration of the stretcher, a short question and answer session was followed by a chance to take the driver’s seat and turn on the flashing lights and sirens.
