Biologists study Anglesey’s rocky shore

Biology pupils in Anglesey

Biologists in the upper sixth form have recently returned from Anglesey where they spent three days studying the island’s rocky shore.

In work that supports their A-level studies, pupils spent their first day collecting and identifying organisms, allowing them to discover which species were present before learning about the ecological sampling techniques which teach them how to measure the ecosystems quantitatively.

On the final day of the field trip, line and belt transect work was undertaken to investigate the change in the distribution of organisms with respect to position on the shore.
