BBC Radio 4’s Daily Service welcomes the chamber choir

Chamber choir on the Daily Service

The Stockport Grammar School chamber choir performed to several hundred thousand listeners around the world yesterday when, for the fourth time in three years, they were invited by the BBC to perform on Radio 4’s Daily Service.

Directed by Mr Michael Dow and accompanied by organist Simon Lole, the choir performed the hymns The King of Love my Shepherd is and All My Hope on God is Founded, and John Rutter’s anthem A Gaelic Blessing.

The pupils sang wonderfully and special mention must go to soprano Maddie Hardy who held her nerve to sing a solo verse beautifully in the first hymn.

Stockport Grammar School have one of the few choirs in the country who have the honour of being invited to perform on the Daily Service, which is the longest running programme of its kind anywhere in the world.
