U15s through to Daily Mail Cup fifth round in defining season

Daily Mail Cup rugby v Wilmslow

With just one defeat in their first three years of rugby at the school, our U15s have set out on their biggest challenge to date. The Daily Mail Cup is entered by over 300 of the best rugby playing schools in the country and yesterday our boys progressed through to the fifth round of the competition.

Wins in the competition so far have included a 50-0 thrashing of local rivals Cheadle Hulme, a 50-19 victory against Lady Manners and yesterday’s 41-0 win against Wilmslow High.  Under the experienced coaching of Mr Anton Hanson, who is also assistant coach at Stockport Rugby Club, the team’s record so far this season reads an impressive eight wins from eight, with 400 points scored and just 55 conceded.

On the back of their success in school matches and also representing east Cheshire, an impressive nine of our players have been selected to be part of the full Cheshire U15s squad.  They are:

  • Adam Cawthorn
  • Will Hanson
  • Will Jones
  • Tom O’Mahony
  • Mark Ray
  • Sam Haley
  • Mike Solomou
  • James Gilboy
  • Adam North

From our other rugby squads, 1st XV captain James Flynn has played for Cheshire U18s and trained with the Sale Academy over the half-term break, while Tom Morton and Oliver Woodside represented Cheshire U16s in fixtures aganst Staffordshire and Lancashire.

We wish our teams and boys every success for the rest of the season.
