Pupils practise their German at Aachen Christmas markets

German language pupils at Aachen Christmas markets

A trip to the famous Christmas markets in the German town of Aachen last weekend gave our second year pupils the ideal opportunity to practise their language skills and to experience the unique festive atmosphere.

After a tour of Aachen, the children put their language skills to the test after being sent on a treasure hunt which involved buying food and drink and interviewing local people.

In a weekend packed with fun and activities there was still time to spend an evening at an ice skating disco and to take part in a quiz about all things German.

On returning, Miss Sylvia Gibson, the head of Modern Foreign Languages, said: “The trip was thoroughly enjoyed by all and gave our pupils an excellent opportunity to practise their German in real situations.”
