Construction site visit gives architects and engineers an industry insight

Pupils on Short Construction site

A recent visit to a live construction site gave 12 pupils with an interest in architecture and engineering a valuable insight into the industry.

Our pupils, from the fifth year and sixth form, were given a guided tour of a new build property in Woodford before the staff from Short Construction and Munro Summers Architects held a question and answer session for those interested in joining the industry in future.

The visit came as part of a joint initiative between the Ove Arup Foundation and the Engineering Development Trust to promote engineering careers within the built environment.

A planned return to the site later in the year to see how the build has progressed will give our pupils a further understanding of the processes required to complete such a project.
