Eight children in Sierra Leone have been provided with a year’s education and food thanks to six girls in the second year who swam 920 sponsored lengths between them to raise money for EduCaid.
Juliet Downs, Lily Wolstenholme, Sarah Stretton, Francesca Bailey, Lucy Daniels and Georgina Dare swam for over an hour and a half each and raised well over £900 after being touched by a visit from Miriam from the charity, who promote education among the underprivileged young people of Sierra Leone.
Speaking after completing their impressive charity challenge, the girls said:
After Miriam’s inspiring speech, we wanted to raise money to provide an education for the children in Sierra Leone. Together we managed to organise this life-changing event.
With an overall total of £970 we have given the chance for eight children to live in a loving environment and be provided with a year’s education and food.
Congratulations to all the girls on such an impressive achievement, and thank you to everybody who sponsored them.
