A three-day residential at Cumbria’s Robinwood activity centre provided our year five children with the perfect end to their first-half term of 2012.
Teamwork, motivation, setting personal challenges and lots of fun are the main aims of the annual trip which sees the boys and girls take part in dozens of activities including climbing, archery, tunnelling and zip wiring.
The children all returned to school with plenty of new stories to tell about their adventures, and everybody had their own favourite challenges. Charlotte Gover was a big fan of the giant swing:
I felt scared yet excited at the top of the swing – I felt like I was hanging on the edge of oblivion!
The “piranha pool”, which puts teamwork to the test, was another favourite, particularly of Toby Jones:
I was the second person to run through it. I felt quite scared but my team encouraged and helped me. The water was so cold!
