The musical brought together nearly 200 pupils from across the school and each performance proved that the months of rehearsals and preparation hadn’t gone to waste.

Scene from Oliver!Fans of the show were quick to praise it by sending us 140-character reviews to @stockportgs on Twitter. In addition to the reviews received on opening night, the following tweets echoed the thoughts of Thursday, Friday and Saturday’s audiences:

A FANTASTIC performance on Saturday. Well done to everyone who worked to put on this amazing production!

I know I was in it, but I’m ecstatic about how it turned out. We all came out and put on a hilarious, wonderful, glorious show!

All the cast of Oliver! were incredible. The Artful Dodger stole the show! Should all be so proud. Impressed.

The production formed part of our programme of special events to mark the 525th anniversary of Stockport Grammar School’s foundation. February’s gala concert at the Royal Northern College of Music marked the start of the year’s events which will culminate in the official opening of the new Woodsmoor building.

Local businesses ProFinance, Hyde Management Services and Computer England joined us at sponsored receptions at three of the performances to help us celebrate this anniversary and support the school’s bursary fund.
