1st XV captain James Flynn will have the honour of playing for his country after being selected for the England U18s clubs and schools rugby squad.
James impressed the selectors during his excellent performances for the north at the recent U18s divisional festival at Broadstreet, which saw the prop score the winning try in a 7-5 victory against the Midlands.
He will join up with the England squad this weekend for a training session in Guildford as they prepare for an international match against the Ireland U18s clubs team in April.
Speaking about James’s achievement, Mr Hugo Corbett, the Stockport Grammar School 1st XV coach, said:
James is an exceptional player and the honour of playing for England is the very least he deserves for his hard work and the way he has led the 1st XV this season.
As well as representing his school, county, the north and now England, James has also turned out for Sale Sharks’ second team in the Aviva A League this year, which just shows what a promising future he has in the game.
