Top young cooks progress to Masterchef second round

Masterchef first round contestants

16 pupils are through to the second stage of the school’s Masterchef competition after progressing through this week’s food tasting and identification round.

The high scorers from the round will now go on to cook a two course meal for the Food Technology teachers at the end of April.

More Masterchef first round contestantsMay’s final will then see our best young chefs compete against each other as they try to impress the head chef from Alderley Edge’s Grill on the Edge restaurant, who will decide who will be crowned the Stockport Grammar School Masterchef.

As well as winning the Masterchef trophy and a £75 voucher for the restaurant, past winners often find that their dish is on the chef’s daily specials board on the day they claim their prize!

Luke Berry was our 2011 winner after his menu of stilton stuffed pear with a balsamic reduction followed by Patagonian beef with dauphinois potatoes thrilled the judges, while Harry Hunt’s Thai baked salmon and coconut rice followed by chocolate and raspberry brownies saw him take the lower school prize.
