Third year pupil Claudia Thomas will have the honour of carrying the Olympic torch in June as a reward for spending the last eight years raising thousands of pounds for charity.
Claudia started fundraising when she was six and donates all her birthday money to charity as well as fundraising for animal rights and homeless charities, including volunteering at the Wellspring homeless shelter in Stockport.
Claudia was nominated by her mother Gail and will carry the flame during the Stockport leg of the relay on Sunday 24th June where she will be watched by her family.
Speaking about the honour, modest Claudia said:
I am really happy, and a bit nervous too! I enjoy doing things for charity but I don’t think I do anything that special really!
Back in September 2010, Claudia was also awarded a “star of respect” by the Christians in schools trust for her charity work.
