Physicists visit home of Higgs boson discovery

Physics pupils at Cern in Geneva

Coming just days after the announcement of the discovery of a Higgs boson-like particle, the Physics department’s trip to Cern in Geneva – where the Large Hadron Collider is based – couldn’t have been timed any better.

As well as touring the headquarters of Cern (the European organization for nuclear research), pupils took a look around the Swiss city’s United Nations office and also had the chance to explore the city itself.

Our Sixth Form pupils, along with teachers Mrs Heather Fenton, Mr Ian Killey and Mrs Gill Lockwood, all returned having had a brilliantly rewarding week.
