Our under-14s are through to the finals of the national schools hockey tournament after an outstanding win in the north finals of the competition in Leeds.
The girls stormed through to the north finals after winning every single game in the tournament’s Greater Manchester and north-west rounds, meaning they could head to Leeds in a confident mood.
A 0-0 draw against Leeds was followed by 4-0 and 2-0 wins against Leeds Grammar and Hull Collegiate respectively in the group stage, before a 1-0 victory over Kirkham in the semis put them one win away from the national finals.
Hymers College were their north final opponents, but a 2-1 win saw the girls, captained by Georgina Dare, crowned champions of the north of England.
Under-14s coach Miss Rachel Hindley told us that she’s extremely proud of the squad, who’ll now play in the national finals in Cannock on 28th February:
All their hard work and commitment to the team has paid off and they thoroughly deserve their success. Well done to all!
