England U16s call on hockey player Holly

Hockey training

Holly Hunt will have the honour of representing England U16s throughout this year after impressing the national selectors in 2012.

Country’s finest coaches

Fifth year pupil Holly trained with some of the country’s finest coaches at a three-day high performance assessment residential in the autumn term before being chosen to feature in the next stage of the national team selection process.

Now she’s received the good news, Holly can look forward to regular England training camps throughout 2013 ahead of playing for her country in national tournaments at Lilleshall at Easter and in Germany in July.

“Outstanding in all school matches”

Speaking about Holly’s achievement, teacher in charge of hockey Miss Sharon Withington said:

Holly should be congratulated on being selected for the England squad.

She has been outstanding in all school matches this season and, having spoken to one of the selectors, I know she really stood out from the other players in the territorial tournament playing for the Pennine Pumas.

She has also been added to the first team squad at Bowden HC for top flight national league matches which is amazing for a child of her age.
