The school’s best young cooks will have the chance to impress the head chef from one of Cheshire’s top restaurants as part of our school Masterchef contest.
For the competition’s opening round, pupils need to download an application form below and return it to the Food Technology department before the food tasting and identification round on 9th April.
The top scorers from the food tasting and identification session will progress to a second stage in which they will cook their proposed meal for the Food Technology teachers.
Grill on the Edge judges
May’s final will then see our best young cooks compete against each other as they try to impress the head chef from Alderley Edge’s Grill on the Edge restaurant, who will be tasked with deciding who should be crowned Stockport Grammar School Masterchef.
As well as winning the Masterchef trophy and a £75 voucher for the restaurant, the standard of the food our pupils serve is so impressive that the winners often find their dish is on the chef’s daily specials board on the day they claim their prize!
Emma Winder is our current Masterchef champion thanks to her Thai green curry with sticky coconut rice followed by chocolate torte, while other recent winners include Luke Berry (stilton stuffed pear with a balsamic reduction then Patagonian beef with dauphinois potatoes) and Emily Banks (sea bass and lemon salt followed by caramelised peaches with marsala wine).
