London trip takes year six to see Shakespearian sights and Shrek

Year 6 pupils in London

A group of 60 Stockport Grammar year six pupils set off for London at 6am on the Thursday before half-term for a packed two days of Shakespeare, Shrek, sightseeing and Stratford-upon-Avon.

Year 6 pupils in Stratford upon AvonA workshop at Shakespeare’s Globe theatre was the trip’s first stopoff, before our children saw some of the capital’s most famous landmarks on their journey north of the river to see a matinee performance of Shrek the Musical on Drury Lane.

Their adventure continued with pizza in Covent Garden before they retired to a hotel in Wembley for the night – a handy location for our sports fans who were able to walk up Wembley Way to see the national stadium in the morning.

The long journey back up north was broken up by a stopoff in Stratford-upon-Avon for more Shakespearian factfinding in the playwright’s birthplace before returning home for a well-deserved half-term break.
