Infant athletes enjoy a sun-drenched sports day

Sack race

The gorgeous summer sun meant our infant children wore plenty of suncream with their smiles on sports day – and their running, jumping and throwing challenges were watched by well over a hundred spectators including mayor of Stockport councillor Chris Murphy.

Thrower on infant sports dayArden house were the day’s winners with 447 points to Warren’s 428, Vernon’s 388 and Nicholson’s 370 – but, regardless of their placing, everyone really enjoyed the fun and left with t-shirts full of stickers for finishing each event.

Year six children joined in too, keeping the scores and showing the younger ones what to do, and a final word of thanks must go to the Stopfordian Parents’ Association who kept our competitors refreshed with juice and the spectators sustained with sweet treats from their cake stall.

The parents’ association will be back on the field on Saturday 15th July (11am to 3pm) when they host their annual summer fair featuring all the classic stalls, games, food and fairground rides – with wristbands to give children unlimited use of the rides now on sale in the Junior School reception for £10.
