Debaters win top prizes at MUN conference

Chinese delegation at MUN conference

Our delegates were big winners at a recent Model United Nations conference where our China team and several individuals were all commended for their debating skills.

Representing China, Sudan and Brazil, our 27 debaters took on roles as diplomats of their designated countries and discussed a wide range of complex world issues at the event in Cheadle Hulme.

After a full day of debate on the Saturday and a Sunday spent negotiating sending aid to solve a fictional earthquake crisis in Kuwait, our pupils were recognised with numerous awards for their contributions to discussions of a particularly high standard.

Our biggest prize was won by our Chinese diplomats (pictured), who were recognised as a commended delegation – a particular honour given that over 60 teams took part in the conference – while Natalie Ho, Jeremy Dunn and Catherine Whatley all received special mentions, Liza Vul and Leah Allcock were both commended and Anna Madden, Jonathan Bennett and Ali Drabu were all highly commended.
