Three Junior School children raised £284 for Cancer Research UK after making and selling chocolate jars at our Christmas fair – and the boys are already planning how to raise even more money for the charity.
Tommie Blashill and Callum Barton, both in year six, gave up hours of their time to make the jars of treats and were joined by Chester Bowden and other close friends at Saturday’s fair to help make their impressive profit.
Relay for Life
The boys are now planning to add to their total by putting a team together to compete in the Cancer Research UK Relay for Life at Stockport Rugby Club in June, and we’ll be sure to tell you how you can sponsor Tommie, Callum and Chester nearer the time.
Christmas fair raises thousands
Early estimates show that our Stopfordian Parents’ Association raised well over £7,000 at the Christmas fair thanks to a day of busy crowds and the hard work of dozens of volunteers.
Over recent years, events like the Christmas fair have helped the association donate thousands of pounds to charity and towards school projects, from toys for our infant children to huge contributions towards new school minibuses and state-of-the-art lighting systems.
