Arden are Junior School house football champions!

Junior School footballers

Arden were crowned champions of this year’s Junior School house football competition, played on our boys’ annual tour to Blackpool.

Despite being contested on such a cold and windy day, the football was so hard-fought that the only people who noticed the temperature were the referees!

After some tight matches with plenty of first-class football on show, Arden and Warren finished on equal points ahead of Vernon and Nicholson – who also couldn’t be separated!

Penalty shootout

A tense penalty shootout would decide who would take the title, and it was Arden who held their nerve and could celebrate winning the trophy.

The final standings were:

1st: Arden
2nd: Warren
3rd: Vernon
= Nicholson

“Sporting manner”

Mr Malcolm Johnson was full of praise for all four houses and not just the winners:

Well done to the boys in Arden for winning the trophy, but all our boys fought fairly and in a sporting manner and should be proud of themselves!

The boys also took in a game of professional football on the way home, watching FA Cup semi-finalists Wigan battle back from behind to beat Watford 2-1 in an exciting Championship match at the DW stadium.
