Our U11 footballers lifted what is already a second trophy of the season after they won the Independent Association of Prep Schools north-west tournament held here at Stockport Grammar.
The team – George Elvin, Emre Gocer, Harry Dare, Harry Flaherty, Michael Stone, Max Leech, Sam Carr, Patrick Wilkinson and Sam Signey – finished top of their group after three wins and a draw against Altrincham, the Ryleys, Kingsmead and St Pius.
Semi-final and final
St Ambrose were our opponents for the third time in as many weeks in the semi-final, with a convincing 5-0 win setting up a tournament decider against Manchester Grammar.
In the final, Manchester Grammar defended brilliantly against our boys’ attacking talent – but the pressure eventually paid off and a 2-0 win saw Stockport Grammar deservedly lift the winners’ shield.
King’s Macclesfield seven-a-side tournament
The boys added the tournament win to the King’s Macclesfield seven-a-side shield, which they shared with King’s Chester after extra-time couldn’t separate the two teams in a goalless final a fortnight ago.
