Homeless charity receive pupils’ food donations

Pupils loading minibus with Wellspring donations

Homeless people in Stockport will be provided with lunches this autumn after a group of pupils organised a food collection for local charity the Wellspring.

With the help of school chaplain the Rev Liz Leaver, fourth years Alex Grant, Ellie Goldstein, Emma Crook, George Robinson and Malachi Chinery gave each form an empty box and offered a prize to the class who could donate the most food.

After sorting through hundreds of donations, the team filled the school minibus with food parcels to deliver to the Wellspring who will use them to provide lunches for the town’s homeless.

Junior School collection

Children in the Junior School also collected food for the Wellspring as part of their Harvest festival earlier in October.

Children with Harvest donations

Half of our pupils’ and parents’ generous donations were sent to the Wellspring, with the remainder being delivered by year five children to residents living in local sheltered housing
