Over £1,000 has been raised for charities Reuben’s Retreat and Macmillan Cancer Support through the power of cake so far this term.
Reuben’s Retreat cake sale
All of our first year pupils made, sold, bought and ate cakes during their bake sale – raising an impressive £605.75 for child bereavement charity Reuben’s Retreat in the space of just one break and lunchtime!
Senior school charity coordinator Mrs Jo Matthews said:
It was an amazing achievement from our first years and a superb effort from all forms. The pupils were really enthusiastic about selling their wares and this is shown in the huge sum they managed to raise.
Macmillan Coffee Morning
Staff never miss the chance to hand over their money in exchange for cake, and they proved it when they took part in Macmillan Cancer Support‘s world’s biggest coffee morning.
£269 was raised by Senior School staff and pupils, with our Junior School teachers adding another £300 to the total.
Teenage Cancer Trust
The Teenage Cancer Trust‘s regional fundraising manager for the north-west Vanessa Simmons has also visited this term to collect a cheque for £1,507.
Mrs Simmons led an assembly in which she told our children exactly how their money, raised through events like Nicholson house’s Valentine’s week, will be spent.
The school will also be supporting this winter’s Key 103 Mission Christmas campaign to help deliver gifts to children in Greater Manchester who would otherwise wake up to nothing on Christmas morning.
