Rugby: 1st XV and U15s through in NatWest Vase

Rugby 1st XV v Old Stops

Our rugby 1st XV and U15s are both through to the fifth round of the NatWest Schools Vase after a pair of excellent wins.

1st XV 46-29 St Ambrose College

The 1st XV defeated St Ambrose College in a high-scoring fourth round tie, with Alex Provan, Michael Sidebottom (2), Mark Ray, Will Travis, Will Hanson and Louis Jones getting the tries and Will Hanson adding the extras with four conversions and a penalty.

The boys (pictured in action against the Old Stopfordians) had reached this stage of the competition after a 63-10 win at Sale Grammar in round three, and will now face either Fallibroome Academy or Ripon Grammar in December.

Fallibroome Academy 7-20 U15s

Our U15s will face either Bishop Heber High or Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar in their north B quarter-final after the boys won 20-7 at Fallibroome.

In both the U18s and U15s competitions, the eight area winners will progress to the national quarter and semi-finals – meaning our sides are both five wins away from a final at Twickenham.

North U18s and U16s

Since being selected for the Cheshire U18s in October, Tom O’Mahony and Mark Ray have both been invited to a North U18s assessment weekend, while George Chatterton will attend a North U16s assessment following impressive performances with his county.
