Candlelit carols celebrate Christmas

Singing by candlelight

Two delightful carol services in front of packed congregations at St George’s church brought the school community together ahead of the Christmas break.

St George's church

The juniors rounded off their year when they were joined by family, friends and staff for a service featuring songs from all of the children in years three to six and performances by our vocalists and orchestra.

Junior carol service

Readings and prayers by head girl and boy Olivia Patton-Lane and Sam Carr punctuated the beautiful singing before school chaplain the Rev Liz Leaver brought the uplifting evening to a close with her Christmas blessing.

Senior school service

The previous night’s senior school service was just as spectacular, with dozens of Old Stopfordians who’d performed in years gone by joining us to meet old friends.

Choir singing

The congregation enjoyed carols and prayers alongside performances by the chorus, junior singers and the chamber choir before a beautiful candlelit finale.

Programme cover competition

Hannah Hughes’s incredible pencil-drawn Madonna saw her win this year’s art department carol service programme cover competition, and sixth former Ana Krywonos’s stunning drawing was used for the school’s official Christmas card.
