Potholers explore caves below Peak District

Caving team

Adventurers spent five hours in the caves below the Peak District on a fantastic potholing trip.

Led by school climbing coach Mr Mike Pinder, the trip took the team deep into 10 miles of usually out-of-bounds passages.

Cavers on a drinks break

Our pupils – members of our adventure club – scrambled, swam and squeezed their way through the caves.

Before and after

As well as potholing for the first time, pupils also learned about the geology and hydrology of the Peak and Speedwell systems.

The team emerged cold, wet and tired from an afternoon underground – but having been on a never-to-be-forgotten adventure.
