Sixth formers raised an amazing £3,837 for the Teenage Cancer Trust when they took part in the Runway on the Runway fashion show at Manchester Airport.
Pupil Ella Burton expertly choreographed the group’s catwalk routine which saw them dance to Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk while modelling Sherri Hill prom wear.
A lunchtime juice bar, cake sales, a talent show, nail bar, valentine’s cookies and roses, and a JustGiving page all contributed to their fundraising total.
Dorothea Christmann and Matilda Plant explained the enthusiasm of the Stockport Grammar School team for Runway on the Runway:
We were eager to get involved in the inspirational and admirable Runway on the Runway project of 2015. Not only does it offer new and exciting experiences but also the opportunity to raise money for a charity that is close to heart.
Raising thousands for children’s charities
Over the past few years, pupils have raised many thousands of pounds for children’s cancer charities in memory of fellow pupil Katie Thorburn.
Katie’s fortitude, wisdom and concern for others throughout her illness made her a source of inspiration for many. She was greatly loved and is much missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
