Engineer Matthew receives recognition from HRH Prince Andrew

Last month engineer Matthew Ardern finished fourth in his category at the world’s largest pre-university science competition in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

He competed with 1,700 others from over 75 countries at Intel ISEF, and Matthew’s project – a continuous reciprocating air filter – saw him win the award plus $500 in the engineering (mechanics) category.

This month Matthew has received a letter from The Duke of York congratulating him on his achievements. HRH Prince Andrew also tweeted Stockport Grammar School (@stockportgs):

“Congratulations to @stockportgs and @NottsHigh students on winning 4th place in “Engineering – Mechanics” @intelisef @Young_Engineers”

Following on from his success, he has also been congratulated in Electronics Weekly.
