Swimmer Maddie to represent Team GB in the European Championships

Maddie Crompton

Fourth year Maddie Crompton has been selected to represent Team GB in the European Championships in Azerbaijan later this month.

She will be the youngest in her category of fourteen to eighteen year olds. The championship will see her swimming the 100 metre, 200 metre, 400 metre and relay competitions.

Ambitious goals

Maddie told us:

I would love to get to the Olympics one day. I like winning and really enjoy going away with the team. I’ve made friends with England swimmers from all around the country, so it’s really great seeing them at galas and competitions.

Maddie trains up to nine times per week before and after school and has been having swimming lessons since she was seven years old. She describes her love for the sport by saying “I just really liked it and I didn’t want to stop.”

Life-changing experience

Maddie also traveled to Italy in May winning one bronze medal and four silver medals on behalf of England.
