Last week adventurers from our year 4 climbing club visited Windgather Rocks in The Peak District.
The minibus took 6 pupils above Whaley Bridge, an impressive outcrop of Millstone Grit. It was a fantastic opportunity for some of the year 4 children who have been regular attendees of the school’s climbing club to put their skills into practice outside.
The children used skills learnt on the school’s indoor climbing wall. During the day, pupils were taught even more about the use of equipment and the different mountaineering conditions.
Our climbing instructor Mr Pinder showed the girls some technical climbs which they negotiated with confidence. It was a real test of strength, stamina and self-belief to tackle some challenging rocky surfaces.
Everyone enjoyed the stunning natural surroundings and returned after a great day very tired but proud of their achievements!
