Our junior and senior sports days took place with beautiful weather for our pupils to thoroughly enjoy their competitive activities.
The morning session started with years 5 and 6 completing 6 stations of running, jumping and other athletic activities. The pupils took part in some tough challenges but thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The morning came to a climax with the relay event and some very close scores between all houses.
Years 3 and four began the equally enjoyable afternoon events with a mix of excitement and trepidation. All competed to the best of their ability and in some cases showed great strength of character, by finishing races despite suffering a fall or a shoe falling off. After competing in hurdles, 150m sprint, ball throwing, long jump, 600 or 400m races and target throwing the children were understandably tired but satisfied that they had done their absolute best.
A huge congratulations to Arden house who came first from all points won in the infant and junior events. Thank you to staff who helped and supported the children throughout and to the SPA who provided delicious refreshments for both events.
The weather was glorious and all pupils put in their greatest efforts despite the heat as the morning started with athletic field events taking place. High jump, long jump, javelin and shot put appeared to be the most popular events with a large crowd of pupils gathering around the events to cheer on their peers.
The afternoon consisted of track events including the 1500m and 100m races. The pupils took part in some very challenging events but with the support of their friends, they achieved some fantastic results.
Congratulations to Vernon house who were the winners of the Athletics Challenge Bowl. They were also the proud winners of the the T.J.Anderson Trophy for the most Athletics Standards points.
Thank you to staff who helped and supported the pupils and well done to all competing pupils who proudly showed off their talents and efforts.
