The junior school year came to a celebratory close with an evening of prizes and musical entertainment enjoyed by the Mayor and Mayoress of Stockport, pupils, parents and governors.
The junior school orchestra displayed their musical talents with a performance of excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, followed by exceptional solo performances from Alice Song on the piano and Isla Forbes on the violin. The vocalists delighted the audience with their rendition of Lin Marsh’s Believe and all the children sang We Are One in a beautiful piece uniting the youngest and the oldest pupils.
Former chairman of governors Ronald Astles presented trophies for academic and co-curricular achievements, and each of the Year 6 pupils received the leaving gift of a book as they move on to senior school.
Speeches by chairman of governors Christopher Dunn, headmaster Tim Wheeler, head girl Olivia Patton-Lane and head boy Sam Carr reflected on the year and captured the vibrancy of school life from each perspective.
