German exchange pupils welcomed to Stockport Grammar

Fifth year pupils welcomed students and teachers from our partner school in the north German town of Bad Segeberg as part of the annual exchange programme.

Our visitors from Städtisches Gymnasium stayed with our fifth year pupils’ families and made lots of new friends while attending lessons at Stockport Grammar and exploring the North-West.

School and days out

Mrs Harris, Mr Moore, Mr Davies, Mr Preston and Mr Wilson all led special lessons for our guests, while their out of school activities included organised visits to Manchester city centre to do some shopping, a visit to Manchester climbing centre and a tour of Manchester City Stadium.

The weekend gave our hosts the chance to get to know the visitors even better, with Adam Keyworth and Sam Howarth taking their partners to London. Ammar Nassier took his partner to the Chill Factore centre and Laura Welch took her partner for a boat ride in the Lake District. Others stayed more local for cinema and shopping trips.

Returning home

Pupils hugged goodbye, took a series of selfies together and swapped addresses, promising one another they will keep in touch.

The new friends will all be reunited on the return leg of the annual exchange in February, when it’ll be our pupils’ turn to stay with their partners’ families in Bad Segeberg.
