BBC School Report 2016

At Stockport Grammar School a dedicated group of third year pupils have been attending BBC School Report Club every week in the run up to News Day and their reports are now complete.

In the weeks running up to News Day, the group worked on their scripts and filmed their interviews so they could spend the day filming their final links and editing their material.

The pupils thoroughly enjoyed their BBC School Report experience and have produced some excellent news items.

Oliver B and Alexander S reported on Reuben’s Retreat, a charity close to their hearts. They interviewed the charity’s founder Nicola Graham. Here is their report.

Alex W produced an opinion piece on his thoughts on the US Presidential Election paying particular attention to the rise of Donald Trump. Here are his thoughts.

With drug use in sport highlighted this week following tennis player Maria Sharapova’s confession that she failed a drugs test, Alex W explores the effects of doping on the body.

Oliver W, Ethan, Hugh and Ben examined the murky world of computer hacking and explored ways to prevent and protect against it. Here is their news report.

Alex W looked ahead to the 6 Nations battle between fierce rivals England and Wales this weekend. Here is his report.

The group have benefitted from visits from special guests, including BBC Health Correspondent Dominic Hughes, Filmmaker Paul Kearton, TV presenter Samina Khan, Actor & Comedian Mani Liaqat and Actor & Filmmaker Zafar Iqbal who helped them to develop their story ideas and gave them valuable filming and editing advice.
