Year Four Juniors paid a visit to the Seniors to spend the morning with some of the school’s most experienced musicians and learn more about the different types of instruments.
Their day started with a concert in Hallam Hall featuring performances by the Wind Orchestra, the First Orchestra and the Big Band.
Then they enjoyed hands on brass, string and woodwind workshops led by teachers and talented pupils where they got to have a go at playing instruments such as the double bass, saxophone and trumpet.
The day was organised to introduce the Juniors to the vast array of music lessons on offer in the Seniors and encourage their interest in learning an instrument.
Mr Dow, Director of Music, said: “The Junior School pupils were a delight to work with and approached all of the instrumental workshops with great enthusiasm. I hope that the opportunity to work with staff and pupils from the Senior school will have inspired them to consider what they might be able to achieve in the future.”
