Junior school pupils got to show off their energetic side as they took part in Sports Day.
Pupils competed in middle distance, jumping and throwing events and, with the new event format, they got to enjoy watching their fellow students compete in the sprint events before they demonstrated their own speed on the track.
The Years 5 and 6 event culminated in an exciting relay with the Warren girls winning by a good distance whilst the Warren boys also found success – albeit by a tighter margin.
The Infant event started shortly after a heavy downpour with the children completing their sprint events and pressing through their nerf torpedo throw, long jump and hurdles at quite a pace so that they could finish before the next deluge.
The rain held off long enough for many exciting and close results to be created on the track and in field events. The Nursery children particularly enjoyed their shopping races and they were given fantastic support by the staff and watching families.
The relays completed the afternoon’s entertainment and Mr Wheeler congratulated the children on their enthusiasm and achievements, thanked the Stopfordian Parents’ Association for their provision of cakes and drinks and announced the results which were as follows:
- Years 5 & 6 results – 1st Arden, 2nd Vernon, 3rd Warren and 4th Nicholson
- Years 3 & 4 results – 1st Arden, 2nd Nicholson, 3rd Warren and 4th Vernon
- Infants results – 1st Nicholson, 2nd Arden, 3rd Warren and 4th Vernon
- Overall results – 1st Arden 1144, 2nd Nicholson 1035, 3rd Vernon 975, 4th Warren 938
Well done to everyone who took part and got involved!
