Excitement is building ahead of this term’s senior school drama production – the musical ‘Annie’.
The production, which runs from Wednesday 22nd to Saturday 25th March, sees pupils from across the year groups deliver their version of the popular Broadway musical.
The shows on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday start at 7.30pm with Saturday’s* showing commencing at the earlier time of 6pm. All the shows take place in the Main Hall. Tickets are £10 for adults and £5 for children.
The musical, which is based upon the popular Harold Gray comic strip ‘Little Orphan Annie’, focuses on the titular character who is a fiery young orphan girl who must live in a miserable orphanage run by the tyrannical Miss Hannigan. Her seemingly hopeless situation changes dramatically when she is selected to spend a short time at the residence of the wealthy munitions industrialist, Oliver Warbucks.
The musical’s songs ‘Tomorrow’ and ‘It’s the Hard Knock Life’ are amongst some of the best recognised and most popular numbers in musical theatre.
In addition to acting out the roles many other pupils have got involved with the organisation of the production by designing the sets, creating the outfits and working on the sound and lighting.
