Netball teams court success during busy year

The netball girls have much to celebrate with numerous tournament victories throughout the school year.

The Under 15 netball team accumulated a number of impressive tournament successes – most notably winning the Independent Schools Netball Cup plate following a 42-34 victory over Red Maids’ School in a tough final.

They also swept aside all-comers at the County tournament which was held at Wright Robinson College and secured the Stockport Schools’ crown after making their way through the competition undefeated and beating the hosts Bramhall High School 9-4 in the final.

The Under 13 netball girls also secured the Stockport Schools’ trophy as they too went through the tournament without losing, seeing off Cheadle Hulme School 4-2 in the final.

The same group were successful with an undefeated record at the Condover Hall tournament, beating Alsager School 6-3 in the final, and the Under 14 team also had reason to celebrate as they came runners-up in the plate competition at the same event.

Individual achievement

Pupil Channell Brown had reasons to rejoice after she was selected to be part of the Manchester Thunder academy and was named in Cheshire Under 14’s satellite squad. Fellow second year Libby Wolstenholme joined the Under 14 development pod.

Looking back at the season’s success, Mrs Laura Goddard, Head of Netball, said: “What a special season the girls have had! They have put in so much effort and desire during the year and the impressive haul of silverware they have accumulated is the perfect reward for this.

“Pupils across lots of the age groups have successes to look back on and appreciate and this bodes well for the future.”
