Under 13 Hockey girls ready for National Finals

Our Under 13 girls are gearing up for the National Schools IN2 Hockey Finals which take place on Friday 11th May at the Nottingham Hockey Centre.

The event features the winners and runners up from the five regional competitions and the teams play in two pools of five with crossover games for 9th/10th, 7th/8th, 5th/6th, 3rd/4th and the final.

We have been placed in Group C alongside Gresham’s Prep School; Princethorpe College; St George’s College, Weybridge and Red Maids’ High School.

The girls’ first game is at 11am against Gresham’s Prep School and they then face St George’s College, Weybridge at 11.50am. The penultimate game kicks off at 1.05pm versus Princethorpe College before the girls wrap up the group action with the match against Red Maids’ High School at 1.55pm.

Miss Sharon Withington, Head of Hockey, said: “I am incredibly proud that the girls have reached the National Finals and am very much looking forward to seeing them take on the other regional representatives.

“It has been a while since we have qualified for the National Mini Hockey Finals. The last team to represent Stockport Grammar School there went on to be crowned National Schools Under 18 Champions in later years. As the phrase goes “out of little acorns….””

If you would like to go to the finals you are very welcome to come along and support the team. Please note there is a charge for entrance to the venue. Charges are £5 per car and walk-ins are £3 per person.
