Stockport Grammar School Summary Financial Position:

 The Resources We Have Available

The full accounts of the School have become increasingly complex each year in order to comply with the changing and increasing volume of accounting and regulatory disclosure requirements. The simplified results below give a summary of the School’s financial position. They take in the whole of the School’s income and expenditure for the year ended August 2016 but exclude gains/losses on investments. The School generates its income from three types of activity: Operations, Charitable Investments, and Fundraising.

All income generated from these sources, after deduction of the associated expenses, is used to support the work of the School, including funding bursaries to maintain open access to the school. Bursaries to the value of 7.5% of fee income were awarded to 110 pupils in the Senior School. The income for the year also reflects the receipt of a number of very generous donations which will be invested as specified by the donors to provide continued support for the provision of bursaries. The School continued its planned maintenance programme, and completed a number of projects out of the incoming resources to improve the buildings and provide enhanced teaching facilities for all pupils. The cash reserves are needed to fund significant improvements to buildings planned over the next year.
