Rugby

The School regularly fields 9 teams on a Saturday morning involving 180 - 200 boys, with B teams at U12, U13 and U14 age groups. The current fixture list includes some of the top rugby playing schools in the north of England and the school also enters national and local cup competitions, both the 1st XV and U15 XV have progressed through to the fourth round of the Daily Mail Vase competitions this year and are hoping for further success. The U18, U16, U14 and U13 teams are all still in the Cheshire Cup competitions.

15-a-side fixtures are played from September until February half-term after which the focus turns to Sevens. The School enters both regional and national sevens competitions, culminating with the U13, U16 and U18 squads travelling to the National Schools Sevens held at Rosslyn Park at which last year the U18s reached the final 16 in the country.

All of the school rugby teams have made pleasing starts to the season. The 1st XV have progressed well since September and have had notable victories against Cheadle Hulme School (51 - 0), St Ambrose College (23 - 19) and St Amselms College (46 - 12).

The Under-13s have continued to build on their excellent start last season and have only lost 2 matches since the squad came together in September 2008.
