Gold Award

The final award requires copious amounts of commitment in the Sixth Form, pupils cannot sign up and start the Gold until they are 16, although you have until the age of 25 to complete any sections of the award and so are not restricted to completion within your time at Stockport Grammar School. Pupils are then encouraged to have their progress monitored by email /phone or by arranging meetings to visit staff in school.

The Gold Award has seen our pupils embark on expeditions to Mallorca and residential projects in Uganda and Cuba.

We do accept direct Gold entrants, although there are further requirements which need to be undertaken.

Requirements

• Volunteering - 12 months
• Skills*
• Physical Recreation*
• Expeditions - Plan and undertake a 4 day, 3 night venture
• Residential - Undertake a shared activity in a residential setting away from home for 5 days and 4 nights

*One Section for 12 months and the other Section for 6 months.

Participants who do not hold their Silver Award must undertake a further 6 months in either the Volunteering or the longer of the Skills/Physical Section.
