Headmaster’s welcome

Mr Larry Fairclough, Junior School headmaster

Welcome to Stockport Grammar Junior School. It is a wonderful place, full of enthusiastic, energetic children.

You will get a good impression of the school by reading these web pages, but you must come and visit us to see what the children are achieving in so many different areas, and to get a sense of how friendly and happy they are.

We expect a lot of our pupils. We want them to grow up with confidence and an enthusiasm for learning, to enjoy success without losing humility, and to strive for high standards in everything they do without a fear of failure, and without being under undue pressure. We want them to respect themselves and each other.

Academic results are high. Levels achieved in national key stage tests are well beyond what is expected of children at these ages. The curriculum is broad, something which is very important to us.

Infant and Junior classes regularly visit places of interest, and we welcome local artists, theatre groups and other visitors into school on a frequent basis.

In a typical week, including Saturday mornings and sometimes Sundays, many children will represent the school in various sports and participate in inter-house competitions.

Please contact me to make an appointment, and I will be delighted to show you around.
