Class representatives

The Junior School operates a system of class parent representatives, currently coordinated by Sally Jones.

At least one parent from each class is encouraged to act as a class parent representative. The class reps act as a link between the SPA and the parents in the class and also as a point of contact between parents in the class, often coordinating a class contact list to facilitate this.

Organising events

One of the main responsibilities of the class reps is to help to organise the year group stalls at the Christmas fair. This has proved to be very successful (and good fun!) over the last few years with a fantastic variety of stalls and lots of input by the children and parents of the classes.

The class reps also organise the biannual Junior School discos (held in autumn and spring) and organised the recent very popular cinema night for both the infants and juniors. Other events organised by the class reps include charity fundraising events such as the school joke book for Comic Relief and the bounce-a-thon for Barnardo’s.

Social events

Class reps also organise social events for parents of their class, such as coffee mornings and meals out, as well as for the families of the class such as rounders competitions. Class reps can be as active as the parents in their class want them to be. Being a class rep is a great way to get to know the parents in your child’s class and other parents who are also class reps and to have an input into the life of the school.

Senior School

Currently, there is no class rep system in the Senior School. However, we are trying to encourage parents of children in the Senior School to become class representatives in an attempt to create a feeling of community, particularly for those parents whose children are new to the school.
