Weather updates

These weather update pages of our website will provide detailed information on the procedures we adopt in extreme weather conditions.

The school will remain open in all but exceptional circumstances. Should closure prove unavoidable we do all we can to inform families as early as possible through SMS text messages, the website, our bad weather helpline (0161 419 2411) and local radio and television stations.

Parents should continue to exercise their own judgment as to whether conditions in their immediate vicinity make it advisable to attend school. If your son or daughter is absent from school on any day please either email pupilabsences@stockportgrammar.co.uk or telephone school and leave a message on the voicemail system, giving the child’s name and form.

In the event of sudden deterioration in weather conditions during a school day, the bus companies may request the early departure of pupils. For all other pupils we will follow the bad weather contingency plan that parents have provided for us, as recorded on the school database.

Individual pupils leaving the premises will need to obtain specific permission from the school office or a senior member of staff. Boys and girls who come on foot and / or live locally will normally be expected to remain until the end of afternoon school.

Please would you ensure that you notify us promptly of any changes either to your contact information or bad weather contingency arrangements.
