Fifth year Art students visited Tate Liverpool and The Walker Art Gallery last month to gather source material for their forthcoming Art GCSE exam.
The Tate’s current exhibition An Imagined Museum, drew together work from its own collection as well as The Pompidou centre in Paris and the MMK Foundation in Frankfurt and, along with its permanent collection of contemporary British and European art, this proved thought provoking and challenging. While The Walker once again provided the group with an excellent range of source material from the early part of the 14th century on.
London galleries trip
The value of spending time at both galleries will no doubt be seen in the Annual Art Exhibition that takes place later this year on 18th May 2016.
16 pupils from our fifth year and sixth form have been chosen to submit work to this year’s Saatchi Art Prize for Schools competition.
Saatchi Gallery/Deutsche Bank Art Prize for Schools is unique in its scope and accessibility, and is one of the largest international competitions open to primary, secondary and sixth form schools from around the world.
The Saatchi Gallery supports emerging artists and bringing contemporary art to as wide an audience as possible. It aims to support and encourage budding young artists by providing them with a platform to showcase their work, and giving them the confidence to continue studying art and to consider a creative career.
The fact that their work has been chosen for display is a tremendous achievement.
