Infant and Early Years pupils loved having their grandparents in school as they joined them for a wonderful afternoon of reading and crafts.
The theme of the afternoon was ‘favourite books’ and grandads and grandmas shared their favourite novel or story with their grandchild and explained to them why it meant so much to them.
They then got crafty as they made bookmarks, which were decorated with pictures of the stories they had just read, as a keepsake of the event.
Afterwards the children used their impeccable manners to serve their grandparents with a glass of sparkling grape juice and a cream filled scone.
Mrs Catherine Bailey, Assistant Head (Infants), said: “All of the classrooms were buzzing with excitement as the grandparents shared their special childhood books and memories with the children. A wonderful afternoon was had by all.”
Grandparents travelled from far and wide for the event, with some even making the afternoon on their visit from Pakistan. The teachers enjoyed meeting so many of the pupils’ grandparents who play such an important role in the children’s lives.
