Careers Convention

Careers Convention 2018

The biennial Careers Convention brought together over 65 representatives from a wide range of professions, industries and universities to offer advice and information to pupils and their parents concerning possible choices of career and Higher Education courses.

The evening, which was attended by pupils from Fourth Year, Fifth Year and Sixth Form, also included expert talks on Medical Admissions and on Apprenticeships.

The Careers Convention is part of a network of support, co-ordinated by the Careers department, that includes Form Tutors, Heads of Year, subject teachers and the UCAS team. The aim of the Careers department is to provide pupils with access to a wide range of resource information, advice and guidance, particularly those pupils faced with making key decisions about GCSE options, A-levels, Higher Education and their future careers.

In the Senior School, support with career goals starts right at the beginning and First Year pupils spend time in Life Studies lessons thinking about their skills and talents. They explore the qualities and dispositions needed to do certain jobs, look at how they can develop themselves further and start to put together their first CV.
