Colin G. Smith (OS 1951)
Stockport Grammar School were saddened to receive the news that Mr Colin G. Smith passed away in November 2015.
Obituary written by Mrs Natalie Smith:
Colin Greenhough Smith attended Stockport Grammar School from 1942 – 1952 and enjoyed his years there very much. He was on the 1st XI teams for rugby and cricket. After taking his Higher School Certificate he decided to do his National Service and joined the RAF spending 20 months in Singapore.
On returning home he enrolled at Manchester University and studied for a degree in Economics at night school. He graduated in 1960 and then qualified as a Company Secretary in 1966. He was Company Secretary at the Northern Stock Exchange which he left to join the road haulage division of P&O in 1973.
On retiring he did voluntary service for the Citizens Advice Bureau and was a keen crown green bowler until his knees troubled him too much.
He had a full and happy life and me and our two sons and daughter miss him very much.
